Depending on your team alliance, you might be making last-minute plans for a trip to Miami. For a year, Jason N., Vice President of Rental, and Dana S., Business Rental Sales Director, have been anticipating your call.
On Feb. 2, football fans will flock to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL for Super Bowl LIV.
Just like the players going to the Super Bowl have worked tirelessly this season, preparing for an influx of visitors and their transportation needs requires a well-executed strategy.
The offensive line
According to Jason, doing your homework is the first step to preparing for such a large-scale event.
One of the first moves he and the team made was to reach out to the “been there, done that” Operating Groups. In this case, Atlanta and Minnesota, who played host to the 2019 and 2018 games, respectively.
“Learning from our peers was a huge opportunity to set ourselves up for success,” says Jason. “We got great inside information as to how we should be looking at this business.”
While the host city is aware of the big game years in advance, most rentals are booked about 90 days before the game for people like news reporters and production teams. The remaining fury comes just two weeks prior to the event once the matchup is determined and the teams’ fans hurry to book their rentals.
Specialty Teams
The Miami team is in a unique position compared to most Enterprise Operating Groups who have hosted a Super Bowl, as winter is peak season. While other operating groups have had to contend with the logistical puzzle of transporting hundreds of vehicles into their boundaries, the Miami team already has the inventory.
Dana manages another unique component of the Super Bowl – the increased demand for specialty vehicles such as large SUVs and cars from the Enterprise Exotics Collection.
“We get a significant increase in requests from big companies looking to chauffer clients around – as well as VIPs with special requests,” says Dana. “The big companies are looking to take on more business and they want our fleet to mirror their fleet. For our VIPs, they are primarily looking to maintain some anonymity.” What’s been most in-demand? “Dark-colored vehicles with dark windows,” says Dana.
The final play
Now that we are days out from the game, the preparation and planning over the past year is paying off in smooth transactions for our customers. “It’s thanks to our amazing employees that we are able to meet the needs of each of our customers during this busy period,” says Jason. “Whether our employees are celebrating with teammates or hitting the streets to experience the festivities on Feb. 2 – they have all done their part to make this a success.”
